The Clovis East Timberwolves will be playing at home against the Sanger Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Even though Clovis East has not done well against Buchanan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. Everything went Clovis East's way against Buchanan as Clovis East made off with a 48-24 victory. Given Clovis East's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Buchanan is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyus Miller was his usual excellent self, throwing for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Miller is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Bishop , who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sanger had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over Garces Memorial. The win was nothing new for Sanger as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Israel Robles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 173 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Robles has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last seven times he's played. Marquis Cropper made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
The win makes it two in a row for Clovis East and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Sanger, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Clovis East has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 312.4 passing yards per game.
