After flying high against Doane Academy last Tuesday, the Medford Tech Jaguars came back down to earth. Medford Tech was the victim of a rough 82-60 loss at the hands of Union Catholic on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Medford Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Union Catholic is ranked 17th).
When it comes to explaining why Medford Tech lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nesta Rice. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Powell, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals.
Medford Tech's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Union Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-6.
Medford Tech will be playing at home against Burlington Township at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Medford Tech's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups. As for Union Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against West Caldwell Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
