On Saturday, things could have been worse for Universal Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-43 loss to BigTyme Prep Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Universal Academy has scored all season.
Several Universal Academy players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cyrus Shaw, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Shaw hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Paul Webb was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
BigTyme Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Dowling out in front who scored 11 points along with three steals and two blocks. Dowling is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayen Ayuel, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Universal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for BigTyme Prep Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing R.W. Goines Stem Academy the next time they take the court. Universal Academy will host R.W. Goines Stem Academy on Tuesday, while BigTyme Prep Academy will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on February 9th.
