The West Florida Jaguars's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Gulf Breeze out 35-32. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
It was another big night for John Nicholas, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns. Nicholas is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. Marquez Jones was another key contributor, gaining 198 total yards and a touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Gulf Breeze lost, one person who can't be blamed is Battle Alberson. Despite the final result, he threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Alberson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Quenneville, who picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
West Florida's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Gulf Breeze, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
West Florida does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gulf Breeze also has no future games currently scheduled.
