The Mohawk Warriors will take on the Old Fort Stockaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mohawk has nine straight victories, Old Fort has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Mohawk got the win against Carey by a conclusive 23-1. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Gottfried was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Katie Woodland was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Emily Brickner was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Mohawk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Old Fort lost 19-5 to Gibsonburg on Wednesday.
Old Fort saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Ward, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Layla Garland also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Mohawk pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.4 runs this season. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Old Fort's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Mohawk has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Old Fort, though, as they've been averaging only 1.6 strikeouts. Will Mohawk keep running through batters, or will the Stockaders buck the trend?
