It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Crown Point Bulldogs can now relate to. They took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings on Saturday. Crown Point's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Crown Point still got an impressive performance from Ava Ziolkowski, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 53.6% of Crown Point's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Valparaiso got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Becca Gerdt out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Gerdt hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Barnes, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Crown Point's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Valparaiso, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Crown Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valparaiso and the Raiders will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northridge comes in on four and the Vikings on five.
