The Chancellor Chargers will be playing at home against the Culpeper County Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chancellor has three straight wins, Culpeper County has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact Chancellor proved on Tuesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 64-35 win over King George. Given Chancellor's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while King George is ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chancellor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Seth Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Brown, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Culpeper County pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to King George 64-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (58), Culpeper County still had to take the loss.
Chancellor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Culpeper County, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-16.
Everything went Chancellor's way against Culpeper County in their previous meeting back in January as Chancellor made off with a 68-45 win. Will Chancellor repeat their success, or does Culpeper County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
