Baseball Recap: South Caldwell Drops Season-High Score on Middle Township

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Caldwell). They put the hurt on the Middle Township Panthers with a sharp 17-3 win on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory (which was South Caldwell's seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Middle Township, with the loss, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2.

Coming up, South Caldwell will challenge Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 2.6, the Armada 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Middle Township, they will take on Mercyhurst Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
