The Bel Air Bobcats won the last time they faced the Elkton Golden Elks, and things went their way on Monday too. Bel Air slipped by the Golden Elks 41-40. Given Bel Air's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Golden Elks are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elkton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being LeeAnn Pugh, who scored 12 points. Paige Beougher was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bel Air and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for Elkton, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Bel Air will square off against the Mariners at TBD on Monday. As for Elkton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Dragons at 3:30 p.m. on January 30th.
