The Pine Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Dade Christian Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pine is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Even though Pine has not done well against Somerset College Prep Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Pine enjoyed a cozy 64-46 win over Somerset College Prep Academy.
Meanwhile, Dade Christian pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Central by a score of 65-63. While losing is never fun, Dade Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while Central is ranked 144th).
Despite the loss, Dade Christian got a solid performance out of Kenvenson Malivert, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Malivert hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 14 straight games. Another player making a difference was Brandon Cooper, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Pine's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Dade Christian, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
