The Carroll Eagles waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Ashford 79-44 at home. Given Carroll's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carroll got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lakeith Person out in front who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Person also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Culver, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Carroll has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Ashford, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Carroll has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Ashford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
