The Brookesmith Mustangs suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Richland Springs 74-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brookesmith in their matchups with Richland Springs: they've now lost eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Brookesmith lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trey Toft. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. Toft hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Jase Moreno, who scored eight points.
Brookesmith's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Richland Springs, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookesmith's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lometa at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Lometa has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28. As for Richland Springs, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cherokee at 7:30 p.m.
