Even though the Pieper Warriors scored an imposing 74 points on Friday, the Seguin Matadors still came out on top. Seguin snuck past Pieper with a 79-74 win. For Seguin, this counts as revenge for the 75-65 defeat Pieper walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
John Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 44 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Corey Dailey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Pieper saw an underclassman step up: MAYSON THOMAS almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. THOMAS is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of TUCKER VOIGT, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Pieper, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-12.
Seguin will head out on the road to square off against Smithson Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seguin is facing Smithson Valley at the right time seeing as Smithson Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pieper, they will be playing at home against Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pieper's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
