The Tolleson Wolverines lost against the Valley Vista Monsoon back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Tolleson was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Monsoon. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tolleson in their matchups with the Monsoon: they've now lost eight in a row.
Rico Blassingame and Jahlil Loyd certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Blassingame scored 12 points along with eight rebounds, while Loyd scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Lancaster, who scored five points along with five rebounds.
Tolleson struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Tolleson's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Valley Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.
Tolleson will head out on the road to take on the Champions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cesar Chavez knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 contests -- so hopefully the Wolverines like a good challenge. As for Valley Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Stallions at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Shadow Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
