The Burley Bobcats will face off against the Jerome Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Burley's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Jerome has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Burley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mountain Home on Thursday as they made off with an 18-8 victory. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Adalynn Olmos was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Olmos was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, Burley let Katelyn Hege and Aaliyah Olmos run wild. Hege went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Olmos got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Olmos has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Messina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Burley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Home only posted an OBP of .387.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Jerome and Wood River had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 11-10 on Thursday. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolverines since on Thursday.
Sawyer Gararad made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Helmer, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Burley's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Jerome, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
Burley was able to grind out a solid win over Jerome in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-4. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
