After a string of five wins, the Olathe South Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 57-49 to St. James Academy. Olathe South lost against St. James Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 67-36 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. James Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elle Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Robinson hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Regan Becker, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Olathe South's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-1. As for St. James Academy, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Olathe South will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shawnee Mission West on January 30th. Shawnee Mission West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Olathe South is ranked 45th). St. James Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Blue Valley West at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th.
