Concordia Prep and Our Lady of Mount Carmel are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2014, but not for long. The Concordia Prep Saints will head out on the road to face off against the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Concordia Prep has seven straight wins, Our Lady of Mount Carmel has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Concordia Prep stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 57-0 win over Boys Latin on the road. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Concordia Prep had established a 50 point advantage.
Concordia Prep can attribute much of their success to Kevin Montague, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Jayson Wright made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of Mount Carmel took a serious blow against John Carroll on Friday, falling 34-7.
Concordia Prep's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points per game. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Concordia Prep took their victory against Our Lady of Mount Carmel in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 41-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Concordia Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
