The Soquel Knights will be home for the holidays to greet the Pacific Grove Breakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Soquel pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitney. While losing is never fun, Soquel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1097th, while Whitney is ranked 403rd).
Meanwhile, Pacific Grove came up short against Carmel on Friday and fell 58-50. Pacific Grove has not had much luck with Carmel recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Benjamin Liddell, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. He also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Oliver Ottmar, who scored seven points.
Pacific Grove struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Soquel has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Pacific Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
