Freeway recap Sept. 26, 2012
Fullerton moved up to 580 from 665 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Freeway. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of a 27-21 win over the Indians.
Troy was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. The Warriors vanquished Savanna 48-0 earlier in the week.
Matthew Villasenor was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 163 yards as Sonora bested Rancho Alamitos. Brandon Rios also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Kyle Blumer put up the best numbers through the air as Troy topped the Rebels. He finished with 10 completions for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Blumer's favorite target this week was Dallas Parent, who caught three passes for 45 yards.
Miranda was the best wideout in Freeway this week as the Raiders defeated the Vaqueros. Miranda racked up four receptions for 105 yards. Villasenor helped Sonora's passing attack out by catching two balls for 27 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Blumer of Jim Burton's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 542. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Buena Park's Deven Boston has rushed for 999 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Miranda. The Sonora star has 15 catches for 339 yards.
The Coyotes' Boston needs only one yards against Westminster next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The Warriors took down Savanna 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Blumer ran for 18 yards in the win.
