The Frederick Golden Eagles were the 74-65 winner over the Severance Silver Knights when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Frederick fell 53-41 to Severance on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Frederick has scored all season.
Frederick lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being JJ Strojinc, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Buffington, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Severance to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaden Hoffman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Brady Varney was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Frederick's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7. As for Severance, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frederick will take on Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Severance, they will be playing at home against Riverdale Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 games -- so hopefully Severance likes a good challenge.
