The Murphy Panthers lost against the Theodore Bobcats on January 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Murphy fell to Theodore 53-49. Murphy has struggled against Theodore recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Murphy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deangelon Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinley Simmons, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Murphy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Theodore, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.
Murphy will be playing in front of their home fans against Williamson at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Williamson will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Theodore, they will head out on the road to face off against Saraland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saraland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Theodore is ranked 96th).
