The Wellington Dukes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Western Reserve on Wednesday as Wellington made off with a 50-25 victory. Given Wellington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Western Reserve is ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wellington's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hope Dudziak, who scored eight points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dudziak has scored all season. Gabby Miller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wellington's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Western Reserve, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellington will play host again and welcome Monroeville, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Monroeville is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Western Reserve will be home for the holidays to greet South Central at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. South Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
