It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Carl Albert had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Fighting Irish as they made off with a 51-28 victory. Carl Albert might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 matches by 23 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carl Albert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Robinson, who rushed for 194 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Kevin Sperry, who threw for 216 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Meanwhile, Del City faced Claremore in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Del City blew past Claremore 34-13. Considering Del City has won 12 games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Carl Albert pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.56 points. As for Del City, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
Carl Albert strolled past Del City when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a score of 19-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carl Albert since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
