Basketball Recap: Rockford Christian Comes Up Short

Rockford Christian lost against Byron back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rockford Christian Royal Lions were outmatched by the Byron Tigers and fell 73-41. While losing is never fun, the Royal Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Tigers are ranked 15th).

Rockford Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shea Ludwig, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. Those 13 rebounds gave Ludwig a new career-high. Teagan Lawver was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Rockford Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8. As for Byron, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockford Christian will take on Winnebago at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Winnebago will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Rockford Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Byron, they will head out on the road to square off against North Boone at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Byron is facing North Boone at the right time seeing as North Boone is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
