The Augusta Orioles suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Baldwin by a score of 44-42. Augusta was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Baldwin apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2021.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baldwin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cooper Carr, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Ziembicki, who scored ten points.
Augusta's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Baldwin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Augusta and El Dorado will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. El Dorado has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for Baldwin, Baldwin and Wellsville will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wellsville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Baldwin in Kansas (Wellsville is ranked 17th, while Baldwin is ranked 82nd).
