The Wade Hampton Generals and the Westside Rams will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wade Hampton is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Wade Hampton pushed their score all the way to 55 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 71-55 fall against Mauldin. While losing is never fun, Wade Hampton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Mauldin is ranked 54th).
Meanwhile, Westside beat Gate City 60-52 on Friday.
Westside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kmajay Jenkins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Jenkins set a new season high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Tiyelle Hollings, who scored 16 points.
Wade Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Westside, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Wade Hampton was able to grind out a solid win over Westside when the teams last played back in February, winning 69-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wade Hampton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
