In what's become a running theme this season, the Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They really took it to Liberty Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-33 win on the road. Given Cornerstone Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Liberty Christian Academy is ranked 642nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Joseph Lemmon, who scored 35 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Cornerstone Christian Academy's points. Jaylen Bennett was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Liberty Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryan Bunnells, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Andrew (AJ) Barrett, who scored seven points.
The victory (which was Cornerstone Christian Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Coincidentally, Cornerstone Christian Academy and Liberty Christian Academy will both be playing Christ the Cornerstone Academy the next time they take the court. Liberty Christian Academy will host Christ the Cornerstone Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while Cornerstone Christian Academy will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
