Western Hills extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-14-1. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Frankfort Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 8-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Noah Morris spent all 9.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Remi Hellard was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Cole Semones, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
As for Frankfort, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 1st.
On Frankfort's side, Bryan Starkey and Will Beshear were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Starkey didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Meanwhile, Beshear pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Starkey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Frankfort is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise. At bat, Starkey went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Beshear got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most runs Starkey has posted since back in March.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Proffitt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base.
While Western Hills had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
