Rocky Mountain is 8-1 against Loveland since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Lobos will look to defend their home field against the Red Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Rocky Mountain is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Rocky Mountain came out on top against Rock Canyon on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Lobos blew past the Jaguars 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ross Frank was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Erik Jacobson and Roan Kachel did most of the damage at the plate: Jacobson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Kachel went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Kachel a new career-high. Max Abernathy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Rocky Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Canyon only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Loveland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Bear Creek by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Wolves have suffered since April 7th.
Loveland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Dunbar, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Rocky Mountain's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Loveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Rocky Mountain's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Lobos have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Loveland, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rocky Mountain continue to outrun the ball?
Rocky Mountain skirted past Loveland 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Lobos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
