Eastside is 2-8 against Blue Ridge since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Eastside Eagles will be playing at home against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Eastside will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Eastside beat Woodmont 50-45. Given Eastside's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Woodmont is ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miracle Cheeks, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kristen Mcbride, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Blue Ridge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against St. Joseph's Catholic on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 58-52 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Blue Ridge.
Anyah Henderson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten assists. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Helena danielle Earley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Eastside's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Blue Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Eastside have been dynamite from deep this season, having only nailed 34.4% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Blue Ridge, though, as they've only nailed 36.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
