Delta is 10-0 against Basalt since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Delta Panthers on the road again and play against the Basalt Longhorns at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Delta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Basalt likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Delta earned a 56-47 win over Moffat County.
Delta can attribute much of their success to Taylor Somers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Kylie Huff, who scored 11 points along with nine steals and two blocks. Somers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Aadrey Fraser was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Basalt's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 55-39 bruising from Coal Ridge. Basalt has struggled against Coal Ridge recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Delta pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Basalt, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Everything went Delta's way against Basalt in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Delta made off with a 45-23 victory. Does Delta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Basalt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
