Rylan MacKnight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chloe Patrick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases. Bralee Roush was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Spring Valley never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against Hurricane by a score of 4-0. The game was the first time the Timberwolves have beaten the Redskins on their field since March 30, 2023.
Not much got past Brooklyn Ellis, who gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks to keep Hurricane off the board.
At the plate, Spring Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Dishman, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Addison Walls also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Spring Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Point Pleasant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for Spring Valley, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Point Pleasant's hitters?
Point Pleasant came out on top in a nail-biter against Spring Valley in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Big Blacks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
