On Friday, Byron Nelson beat Heritage 59-47. The victory was all the more spectacular given Byron Nelson's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 311th in Texas, while Heritage is ranked 125th in Colorado).
Despite the loss, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Trystan Rangel scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jonah Mayoral, who scored 8 points.
Byron Nelson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Byron Nelson will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Plano West at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th. Plano West will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Heritage, they will square off against Richland at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Richland is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
