It was a good run, but the Taft Greyhounds unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Goliad 61-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Taft still got an impressive performance from Jordan Villalobos, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 43.9% of Taft's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Davis, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Taft's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-10. As for Goliad, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taft will take on Mathis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mathis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Goliad, they will be playing in front of their home fans against George West at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully George West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
