The Wayne County Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the East Hickman County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully East Hickman County likes a good challenge.
Even though Lewis County scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Wayne County still came out on top. Wayne County walked away with a 72-62 win over Lewis County. Given Wayne County's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Lewis County is ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wayne County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cayman Camfield led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Cooper Shamer was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Waverly Central scored an imposing 57 points on Friday, East Hickman County still came out on top. East Hickman County took their game against Waverly Central 64-57. The victory was just what East Hickman County needed coming off of a 74-45 loss in their prior contest.
Their wins bumped Wayne County to 7-1 and Lewis County to 3-5.
Everything came up roses for Wayne County against East Hickman County in their previous matchup on Tuesday as the team secured a 74-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
