Baseball Recap: Turner Ashby Wins Going Away Against Wilson Memorial

Turner Ashby barely beat Wilson Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights blew past the Green Hornets 11-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Tyler Hill tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Cooper Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Spotts, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Turner Ashby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilson Memorial only posted a batting average of .120.

Turner Ashby's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Wilson Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Turner Ashby will take on Rockbridge County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilson Memorial, they will square off against Stuarts Draft at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
