The Alamo Heights Mules waltzed into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins but they left with four. Everything went their way against Boerne-Champion as Alamo Heights made off with a 71-45 victory. Given Alamo Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Boerne-Champion is ranked 698th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alamo Heights' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Zadel led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Zadel has scored at least 25% of Alamo Heights' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talaiyah Andrews, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Alamo Heights is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Boerne-Champion, they have fallen quite a ways from their 28-7 record last season and are now at 4-7.
Alamo Heights will square off against La Joya at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boerne-Champion's road trip will continue as they head out to face New Braunfels at 10:30 a.m. on November 30th.
