In what's become a running theme this season, the Marquez Gladiators gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by Maywood CES at home to the tune of 92-27. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Marquez has managed all season.
It was another big night for Lamont White Jr, who scored 24 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyjah Staples, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Marquez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Maywood CES, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-16.
Marquez will head out on the road to face off against Maywood Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Maywood Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1164th, while Marquez is ranked 428th). As for Maywood CES, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elizabeth at 4:00 p.m. on January 25th. Elizabeth is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
