The Fort Lupton Bluedevils will head out on the road to take on the Alameda Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fort Lupton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Fort Lupton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Arvada on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7.
Jesse Ceretto was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

04/12/25 @ Frederick | 1 |
Ceretto wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javier Ortiz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Ortiz has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times he's played. Another was Julian Arreguin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Alameda had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Englewood. That's two games straight that Alameda has won by exactly 12 runs.
Like Fort Lupton, Alameda also got a great game from a two-way player: Ivan Baca. He struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Baca was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Alan Chairez was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Cesar H was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Alameda pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Lupton, their record now sits at 6-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fort Lupton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Alameda struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fort Lupton took their win against Alameda in their previous matchup back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 17-3 score. Do the Bluedevils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
