The Steele Knights and the Summer Creek Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Steele Knights had to settle for second. They were the victim of a rough 38-14 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. Steele's loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Leading Summer Creek to victory were Blake Thomas and Lloyd Avant. Thomas rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while Avant gained 224 total yards and three touchdowns. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards.
Steele's loss dropped their record down to 13-2. As for Summer Creek, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Steele does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Summer Creek is on the road again on Saturday and play against DeSoto at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. DeSoto knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Summer Creek likes a good challenge.
