The Logan Wildcats will square off against the Johnson Central Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Logan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Chapmanville Regional, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Logan was ranked seventh). The Wildcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-7 victory on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.

04/05/25 @ Gilmer County | 5 |
03/21/25 @ Hoover | 3 |
03/25/24 @ Johnson Central | 3 |

The team relied heavily on Myleigh Adkins, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lacy Curry, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Logan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Johnson Central came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 13-1 victory.
Johnson Central got a massive performance out of Mayson Delong, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Delong has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Adyson Burchett was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Logan's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Johnson Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Logan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Johnson Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Logan took their victory against Johnson Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
