The Delta Panthers waltzed into their contest Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. Everything went their way against Centauri as Delta made off with a 66-40 victory. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post nine more assists than your opponent, as Delta did.
Kylie Huff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with nine steals. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jolee Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Centauri lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lacey Johnson. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with seven rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last six games she's played.
Delta's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-4. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Centauri, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delta won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Alamosa at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Alamosa is ranked 98th, while Delta is ranked 81st). Centauri won't have much time to rest: their next match is against The Vanguard School at 2:30 p.m. on January 6th. The Vanguard School's defense has only allowed 26.6 points per game this season, so Centauri's offense will have their work cut out for Centauri.
