Seminole Ridge has gone a perfect 3-0 against Cardinal Newman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Seminole Ridge Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Cardinal Newman Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Seminole Ridge's offense. They came up short against Jupiter on Tuesday, falling 13-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Seminole Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Coffie, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Wellington. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Crusaders have suffered since February 19th.
Karis Taleff was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Sydney Mahoney was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Seminole Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Cardinal Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seminole Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Cardinal Newman struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
