Baseball Game Preview: Dakota Indians vs. East Dubuque Warriors

The Dakota Indians will challenge the East Dubuque Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dakota will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Dakota barely beat Durand/Pecatonica the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians put the hurt on the Rivermen with a sharp 16-1 victory on Tuesday. The contest marked the Indians' most dominant win of the season.

Braxton Mazurkiewicz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brodie Goode was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 3rd. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Bowers, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Dakota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, East Dubuque waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Thunder get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.

East Dubuque pushed their record up to 10-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Dakota, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Dakota might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from East Dubuque when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
