It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Van Wert Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past River Valley with points to spare, taking the game 48-30. The win was familiar territory for Van Wert who now have five in a row.
Brylen Parker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 141 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 237 yards and three touchdowns while completing 74.2% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Keldyn Bill, who rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns.
Van Wert is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for River Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Van Wert will head out on the road to face off against Shelby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shelby will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. River Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
