After flying high against the N.C. School for the Deaf Bears last Tuesday, The Master's Academy Lions came back down to earth. The Master's Academy took a serious blow against the Fire on Friday, falling 65-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for The Master's Academy in their matchups with the Fire: they've now lost seven in a row.
The Master's Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zachary Gatlin, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, and Ben Davis who scored three points along with six rebounds and two steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, The Master's Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The Master's Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Christian Family Academy, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
The Master's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Christian Family Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Red Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th. Haywood Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 659th, while the Fire are ranked 324th).
