After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Weaver, the Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Phoenix were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Capital Prep 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Trailblazers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Syre Gillespie, who scored 19 points along with six steals. Gillespie has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Cockfield, who scored 14 points.
Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Capital Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Hawks at 6:30 p.m. As for Capital Prep, they will head out on the road to take on the at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Achievement First is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
