The Putnam County War Eagles put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Laney with a 68-62 victory. Given Putnam County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Laney is ranked 421st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Putnam County was led to victory by Jmari Greene and Landon Bonner. Greene scored 24 points, while Bonner scored 23 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. The contest was Bonner's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Putnam County pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Laney, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Putnam County will head out on the road to face off against Butler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laney will be home for the holidays to greet Glenn Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenn Hills comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
