The Zionsville Eagles will take on the Carmel Greyhounds at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Zionsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Carmel will be up against a hot Zionsville squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles blew past Franklin Central 12-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted against the Flashes since April 30, 2021.

Brady Shaw
05/01/25 @ Franklin Central | 7 |
04/24/25 vs Brownsburg | 4 |
04/17/25 vs Hamilton Southeastern | 6 |
04/10/25 vs Fishers | 4 |
04/03/25 @ Avon | 7 |
Zionsville got a great performance from Brady Shaw as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Shaw has posted since back in April.
At the plate, Tyler Hughes was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Camden Moore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Zionsville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin Central only posted a batting average of .208.
Meanwhile, Carmel faced Avon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Greyhounds never let the Orioles get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Zionsville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Zionsville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carmel struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Zionsville's way against Carmel in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Zionsville made off with a 7-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
