The Saucon Valley Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Blue Mountain Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saucon Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Blue Mountain is ranked 120th).
Saucon Valley fell victim to Southern Lehigh's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Spartans at home and fell 47-0. That means Saucon Valley has now suffered back-to-back defeats.
Meanwhile, Blue Mountain got themselves on the board against Wilson Area on Saturday, but Wilson Area never followed suit. They really took it to the Warriors for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-0 victory on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Blue Mountain.
Payton Fasnacht and Tyler Miller were among the main playmakers for Blue Mountain as the former rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries and the latter rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries.
Blue Mountain's win bumped their season record to 5-2 while Saucon Valley's loss dropped theirs to 3-4.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Saucon Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 168.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Blue Mountain struggles in that department as they've been even better at 226.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Saucon Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Blue Mountain in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, sneaking past 24-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saucon Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
